INSTALLATION PROCESS

Whether you are building a retaining wall project for the first time or the tenth, retaining wall installations can be messy. There will be mud, but it will be gorgeous in the end.

BASE

Pavers are installed on a compacted granular aggregate which should be between 4 and 6 inches deep. The depth of the base layer is influenced by the soil type and application. The base layer should be leveled and compacted firmly, and will safeguard against the pavers shifting or settling. Big Limestone Retaining walls are usually built on a solid concrete footing depending on the ground. In some cases the blocks actually sit directly on bedrock.

FILTER ROCK & FABRIC

Once the Footing is done and the layers of blocks start to get stacked, Geo-Fabric is rolled out behind the blocks, and a layer of filter rocks are filled in behind the fabric.

BACKFILL

After all the blocks are stacked and the filter rocks and fabric are in place, there is back fill dirt that is filled in on top of the filter rocks and fabric and behind the wall. In some cases there are drains and piping place within and behind the wall for drainage purposes.
